History of Fountain County: together with historic notes on the Wabash Valley, gleaned from early authors, old maps and manuscripts by Beckwith, H. W. (Hiram Williams), John Richards, who died in , was Sonoma County’s first civil rights activist and tireless advocate for the education of African-American children, even funding a teacher for them because the town would not allow them into public school.
